GAVIN ROSSDALE Performs On 'The Late Show With David Letterman'; Video Available
June 10, 2008Former BUSH frontman Gavin Rossdale was the featured musical performer on last Friday's (June 6) episode of CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman". Watch the performance below.
Gavin Rossdale returned last week with his first solo album, called "Wanderlust", marking his first studio release since 2005, when he issued the debut set with his band INSTITUTE. According to The Pulse of Radio, "Wanderlust" features Shirley Manson of GARBAGE on the song "The Trouble I'm In". But what's absent is a duet with Rossdale's wife, Gwen Stefani. The former BUSH frontman told MTV.com they try to avoid mixing work and their personal lives. He said, "It's bad enough with the whole intrusive, paparazzi-celebrity-weird-photo life. I like mystery. The people I care the most about, whether it's in music or films or art or whatever, I don't really need to know anything about them." He added, "When we get burdened by people at Starbucks, it just takes away from that mystery."
As for the new album, Rossdale sings about various topics, including politics and war. He said, "I took it quite to heart when Neil Young said bands of the younger generation weren't really making too much music about the war, and I thought, to a degree, he was right."
Meanwhile, Rossdale says he's moved on from INSTITUTE, which only sold 57,000 copies of its debut album in the U.S. Rossdale said, "Bands are like sharks they've got to keep moving. INSTITUTE was a dead shark. It didn't really work out, but I just think that if people hear 'Wanderlust', and they like it, they may investigate the INSTITUTE record."
Rossdale will play a batch of dates overseas this summer. He's planning a U.S. headlining tour this fall.
